In the Spirit of Adventure
Anything but faint-hearted, Charlie Perring recently braved the Arctic Circle to raise money for the Ukuthemba Foundation – a local charity run by Louise Killen’s sister-in-law, Kim Killeen.
This was set against the backdrop of the northern lights over a long weekend and entailed a 40km dog sled race, a 25 km Nordic ski, ice fishing, orienteering, woodland fire lighting and a Swedish quiz in teams of four.
Having started Drift Adventures for the thrill of the great outdoors, Charlie personally plans and guides exhilarating adventures through some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world to stretch and inspire those that are up for the challenge.
This idea was born after Charlie decided a change of direction when 23 years of climbing the ladder as a project manager for elite events in the sport and entertainment industry left him feeling unfulfilled.
Eager for something more, he completed his Mountain Leader and expedition medic training at the National Mountain Training Centre and started this exciting journey.
If you would like to get a glimpse into Charlie’s world, please visit his website at www.driftadventure.co.uk. His photos are breathtaking and even if you are not an adrenaline junkie, there is plenty to stir the imagination.
A new series of daring adventures are in the works for 2019, which include a trek through the dramatic scenery of Jordan, trailing through Machu Picchu and exploring the West Coast of Canada.
Furthermore, you can even design your own adventure, moto or charity challenge, which Charlie will put together.
