The Things we care about – Community project by Carin Lilienfeld
We love hearing positive stories about people dedicating their time and passion to improving our communal environment and to giving to those in need.
In the true spirit of revival, our lovely client, Carin Lilienfeld, is doing just that through upcycling and revamping the neglected garden of the Colin Eglin library in Sea Point
Her vision is to make it a lush space and a stimulating sanctuary for the children of Ellerslie Primary across the road as they tend to spend a lot of time there after school.
When the opportunity presented itself to start this initiative, Carin immediately took up the challenge with her handyman and gardener despite a host of loose ends.
Together, they started weeding and planting cuttings that she had collected from various places and donations, as she is a firm believer in upcycling. She also has a fabulous vision of creating a colourful and stimulating playground for the kids.
This special community project is in its infancy as there is plenty to be done and Carin is in desperate need of funding and assistance to make her vision possible. She is largely relying on recycled plants that she will then reinvent to compliment the space and funding from people and companies to make the whole project a reality.
If you would like to contribute to this project or know of someone who would, please let us know.
We look forward to seeing this garden reach its full potential with Carin’s touch for the benefit of all.
